Everybody’s Favorite RedNek Hubert Rowland (Nitro Circus cast member, and famed mechanic for Travis Pastrana) is hosting a Let’s Ride Powersports Safety Program
in Superior, Wisconsin on Thursday, September 12, 2019.  The event includes an interactive presentation for over 1000 middle school students and will open to the public from 3:30 PM to 6:45 PM on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the Superior Middle School.  Come meet Hubert and other athletes for autographs, swag and selfies!

ATV’s and UTV’s will be on display, and staff will be on site to provide instruction on appropriate
size of equipment for children, proper seat belt use, and how to properly wear a helmet and other safety gear.  Come meet Hubert and other athletes for autographs, swag and selfies. Hubert shows that off-road activities can be both fun and safe when proper safety measures are implemented— and he encourages kids to get outside, have fun and be active.

There is a growing trend of ATV, UTV, and powersports vehicle use, and a corresponding need for proper safety messaging and training.  According to the latest figures from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than 1 in 5 fatal ATV accidents involve children under the age of 16, and the numbers are significant; reporting more than 3315 fatalities for children under the age of 16, since 1982. In the vast majority of cases the participant was not wearing a helmet— and the rider had received no safety certification.  We recognize that rider education is key to preventing injury and many children who do not Hubert will be helping to educate and inspire kids to ride safe.

The powersports industry is vigilant about spreading a message of safety.  Organizations like ATV Safety Institute (ASI) which promotes the safe and responsible use of ATVs, and The Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association (ROHVA) which promotes the safe and responsible use of recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) are leading the way in disseminating information, providing hands-on training, and rider tips.  Manufacturers and Aftermarket companies also aggressively promote safety, as do our athletes and sanctioning organizations however, these are not always effective in reaching the youth.

ROHVA/ ATVSI certified instructors, local and state law enforcement agencies, and numerous sponsors including Giant Voices, Wienerschnitzel, Infinite Off-Road, Super ATV, System 3, FXR will be on hand to fit each child with a helmet, give them an opportunity to see the difference between youth and adult sized powersports equipment, connect them with local resources, and provide them with resources to obtain safety certification.  Several widely known athletes and ambassadors have offered their support in the form of producing videos which amplifies the message and we may have other athlete influencers on site as well.
