**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**

Duluth, MN
Duluth Transit Authority
The Duluth Transit Authority announced today that they are launching some major changes to the system beginning Sunday, June 1st. Several routes including the high frequency Go-Line routes, the city-spanning 103, and many others are seeing enhancements in frequency, more connective scheduling, and more! DTA leaders are expecting these changes to attract more ridership, provide expedited travel between key locations, and align with the organizations long-term goals. Paired with nine new fixed route buses each equipped with fat-tire compatible bike racks and a new wheelchair securement system, there is certainly a lot to look forward to with this batch of modifications and enhancements. A special thanks to the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration who made all these improvements possible.
Here are some highlights to expect from the service changes we are launching June 1st:
- We have added nine new fixed-route buses to our fleet, five of which will serve the Go-Line routes, and 4 will be dedicated to the other local routing. Each of the buses equipped with fat-tire compatible bike racks which accommodate a max tire width of 4.75", wheel diameter from 16” and up, with a max bike weight of up to 55 lbs.
- Each of the new buses is equipped with a Quantum Automatic Wheelchair Securement Station, along with our traditional 4-point securement (more information to come on this topic).
- Route 103 receives significant modifications. It will now include express routing (providing expedited travel between downtown and Spirit Valley via I-35) on the west side and provide regular service near the Central Ave business district (including Super One Foods in Spirit Valley). The 103 will also offer a later weekday evening trip.
- Weekend frequency will be return to the previously scheduled hourly trips with the return to more frequent Blue Line trips.
- West Duluth (between 59th Ave W and 24th Ave W) will be served exclusively by the Blue Line, which returns to 15-minute weekday trips and 20-minute weekend trips (30-minute trips in early morning and late evening). Routes 107 and 108 will continue to serve 24th Ave W to downtown.
- Green Line will match the Blue Line's frequency.
- Route 110 scheduling has been rebuilt and readjusted for better connection reliability with DTC and Route 111. 110 also returns to Aldi routing.
- Routes 106 and 113 will resume weekend service.
- Other routes have timing changes to maintain connection options at primary hubs.
